President Solih to attend football legend Imran's retirement match

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is to attend football legend, Imran Mohamed’s retirement match on Sunday night.

Football Association of Maldives (FAM)’s general secretary Hussain Javaz revealed this at a press conference on Sunday morning, adding that him accepting their invitation ‘is a delight.’

In addition to the president, senior government officials are to attend the match, as well as those that had an impact on Imran’s long football career.

Former Real Madrid and Spain defender, Michel Salgado and former Manchester United goalkeeper Michael Schmeichel are to play in the match as well. They arrived in the Maldives last week, and attended the Footaball Awards on Friday evening.

Tickets for the match went on sale on Thursday, and is to continue until 10pm. The match will commence at 9pm.

Some of the funds raised from Sunday’s match will be donated to an organization of Imran’s choice, which is the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives.

Imran Mohamed, who had been the first-choice national goal keeper since 2000, is the country's best and most decorated goalkeeper.

His team, for the international retirement match, mostly comprises of players who had played with him during his career.
