Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) on Sunday morning, held a “Victory Run” as part of their commemorative activities to mark Maldives 30th Victory Day 2018.

The run commenced from Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi in capital Male’ city at 6am.

The motive behind the victory run is to refresh national interest in the heart of military officers and to strengthen the bonds between ranks, according to MNDF.

MNDF began celebrating the day on Saturday with a Fajr Prayer and a flag hoisting ceremony. MNDF is to conduct musical drills at Central Park in Male’ suburban extension Hulhumale on Sunday and at Villimale’ harbor on Monday as well.

Victory Day remembers those who were martyred in the attempted coup by foreign terrorists on 3 November 1988. 19 Maldivians lost their lives when a group of 90 terrorist fighters invaded capital Male’ City and attempted to take control of the Maldives government.
