A man in GA. Kondey has been arrested for vandalizing President Abdulla Yameen’s poster.

38-year-old Shahuneez is an activist of main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and an active participant of the Joint Opposition’s campaign events.

His brother told RaajjeMV that he was arrested on Thursday morning for throwing paint on ruling party’s presidential candidate President Yameen’s poster.

The brother said that Shahuneez was arrested after a few ruling party activists reported the incident.

He claimed that Shahuneez was arrested to obstruct the opposition’s campaign activities prior to Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s arrival to Huvadhoo atoll.

He also told RaajjeMV that arresting opposition supporters will not hinder their activities and that these actions will not gain President Yameen any supporters or give him Kondey’s majority.
