Joint Opposition vice-presidential candidate Faisal Naseem has pledged to increase the income for medical specialists during the opposition-led government.
Speaking to residents in Kaafu atoll Huraa island during his campaign tour across the atoll on Wednesday, Naseem said that a convenient work environment will be established for doctors and nurses to work in without any political hindrances.
“We are seeing a day-by-day plummet in the health facilities and in the services they provide. We assure all of the doctors working in the nation that a unity government led by the opposition coalition will ensure a pleasant work environment and that a worthy income will be given to them” said Naseem.
Naseem further pledged to establish a quality education system in order to help develop a generation of bright students. As such, the vice-presidential candidate pledged to work every day for the development of the education sector.
While the opposition’s vice-presidential candidate has pledged to upgrade the income for medical specialists in the country, nurses across the nation had on Tuesday begun signing a petition against the recent framework introduced by the government that claimed to upgrade salaries by 15%.
Nurses had noted several concerns in the petition, including the drastic reduction in the take-home pay, extra shifts and allowance-cuts.
