A remembrance event has been held for journalist Ahmed Rilwan on International Day of the Disappeared in Sri Lanka.
As part of the remembrance event, friends and family of those who had disappeared in South Asia held a walk while holding banners and posters in Colombo on Monday morning.
Rilwan’s family is also joining the week-long event being held by Amnesty International.
Later in the evening in Galle Face, the family of the disappeared, including Rilwan’s sister, talked in detail about their cases.
While it has been four years since Rilwan’s alleged abduction, his sister said that former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has revealed that President Abdulla Yameen stopped a cabinet-level investigation on his disappearance.
