Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) is to hold a special rally in capital Malé City on September 7.
The party's parliamentary group leader, Ahmed Nihan made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday morning.
He said that the special event will start at 8:30pm at Alimas Carnival in the capital city.
Noting that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen will be in attendance, Nihan added that details of its manifesto for the upcoming election will be shared at this event.
While the ruling party is to hold a gathering at Alimas Carnival next month, housing ministry has given the opposition coalition approval to hold a rally at Dharubaaruge. This is the first time in recent history that the opposition has been granted permission to hold a rally in a location in the capital.
The coalition is yet to announce a date of their rally.
