MP Mariya Ahmed Didi, the spokesperson for the Joint Opposition presidential candidate, has said that the ruling party is accusing the MDP government of massive acts of corruption to divert outrage over the acts of corruption carried out by President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, MP Mariya said that none of the state entities nor institutions have found any evidence of corruption during MDP's government, and that the current administration would ave taken action if there were any.
Mariya stressed that the current administration is pinning corruption allegations on the opposition-run government to divert the concerns of citizens.
She further said that the government’s response to the various embezzlement cases hint that the stolen cash have been concealed by the administration, else President Yameen would not have stated so confidently that the funds will not be found.
