America’s Marriot International is to make its debut in the Maldives in November this year.
JW Marriot Maldives Resort and Spa is to open in Vagaru island in northern Shaviyani atoll, a 55-minute seaplane ride from the country’s main Velana International Airport. Guests will have the choice between five villa categories.
The 61-property will include a private pool in each villa, as well as a treetop restaurant, expansive wince cellar, a Kid’s Club and Spa by JW.
It will also house 29 secluded one and two-bedroom beach villas, each with its own private beach area, hidden in the islands greenery. Furthermore, its 32 water villas include a spectacular four-bedroom Royal Water Villa, complete with a nanny’s quarter.
The resort will also have six treatments rooms with a Royal Treatment Suite, a gym, a yoga pavilion and beauty salon, in order to ensure the best experience for their guests.
While its diving centre is headed by an on-site marine biologist, it offers numerous activities including fishing, sailing excursions, para-sailing, jet-skiing, diving and more.
Founded by J. Williard Marriot 91 years ago in 1927, Marriot International currently has 'more than 6,500 properties in 127 countries and territories around the world'.
Marriott runs several resorts in the Maldives, including The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa, and W Maldives, and is to launch its Westin brand in the Maldives with the Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort set to open in January 2019.
