Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has apologized for hosting the New Year’s show.
The event was heavily criticized for showing female performers dressed in tight fitting and revealing clothing.
In a news statement on Tuesday, MITDC said that the outfits worn by some performers had been unfit for such an event, and vowed to host future events with Maldivian values and social norms in mind.
Islamic NGO Jamiyyath Salaf has recently filed a complaint over the event, which called on authorities to penalize those responsible.
