A boat in Ihavandhoo island in Haa Alif Atoll was set on fire Monday evening. The vessel, which was under construction, was burnt beyond use.
Speaking to RaajjeMV Ihavandhoo Island Council Vice President Ali Rameez reported that the fire was first reported at around 7.30pm on Monday. The fire was extinguished by citizens and officers of Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The Council also reported that Police was investigating the case.
Construction of the boat was on halt for several days, sources reported.
