Education ministry appoints new permanent secretary

Ahmed Ali has been appointed as a permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education.

His appointment was announced via Twitter on Thursday.

Ali was welcomed by Education Minister Aishath Ali, and other officials at a small ceremony held at the ministry in the morning.

He replaces Mohamed Saeed.

Ali joined the education sector in 2000, as a temporary teacher. He became a permanent teacher after completing his Bachelor’s Degree, and has since filled various management level positions.

He completed his Master’s in School Management in 2007, at the University of Mysore in India.

In addition to the education sector, Ahmed Ali had served as an assistant director at the Elections Commission in 2013. He was appointed as its secretary general in 2015, and had been there until February 2018.
