The amounts are allocated by the party

A credible source told RaajjeMV that the appointees are being told to donate specific amounts, depending on their level of appointment

RaajjeMV has learnt that the various political appointees of the current administration are being told to donate money to the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

A credible source told RaajjeMV that the appointees are being told to donate specific amounts, depending on their level of appointment. These amounts are allocated by the party.

Hence, those filling minister level positions are to give MVR 5,000, while state ministers are to donate between MVR 2,500 and MVR 3,000. Furthermore, deputy ministers are to give around MVR 2,000, while coordinators and executive coordinators are to donate MVR 1,000 and MVR 1,500 respectively.

PPM's secretary general Abdulla Khaleel did not respond to RaajjeMV's calls, and had asked to send him a text message instead. However, he did not respond to the message.
